First Hawaiian Bank, its employees, retirees and foundation are donating more than $1 million to benefit 34 charities as part of the bank’s annual Kokua Mai employee-giving campaign. Employees and retirees raised $722,163 of the amount, which surpasses the campaign goal by $171,193.
Since Kokua Mai’s inception in 2007, bank employees and retirees have donated more than $6.1 million to support charities in Hawaii, Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
This year 99 percent of First Hawaiian employees made monetary contributions in the giving campaign, a record participation rate, the bank said Wednesday. The bank, its foundation and employees annually donate more than $3.5 million to over 400 charities.
The charities receiving donations are: American Red Cross of Hawaii; American Red Cross, Guam Chapter; American Red Cross, Northern Mariana Islands Chapters; Aloha Harvest; Aloha United Way; Ayuda Foundation; Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii; Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii; Catholic Charities Hawaii; Child and Family Service; Domestic Violence Action Center; Easter Seals Hawaii; Family Programs Hawaii; Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc.; Hale Makua; Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation; Hawaii Foodbank; Hawaii Island United Way; HUGS; Imua Family Services; Kamaaina Kids; Kauai Hospice; Kauai United Way; Lanai Community Association; Make-A-Wish Hawaii; Make-A-Wish Guam; Maui United Way; Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii; Palama Settlement; Pali Momi Women’s Center Fund; Salvation Army, Hawaiian & Pacific Island Division; Special Olympics Hawaii, Inc.; Teach for America; Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.
