Kokua Line devotes today’s column to readers’ expressions of gratitude. First, a “mahalo” of our own, to the readers who engage, enlighten and inspire us every day. Happy Thanksgiving!

I tripped while walking from the gate area to the main terminal at the Honolulu Airport. Immediately a wonderful young man appeared to help me up and got tissues for my bleeding fingers. Another fine young man came to help and accompanied me all the way to the baggage claim area and got my bags for me. Although I thanked them that day, I hope they see this and know that I think of them often and have told others of their kind deeds. I did not get their names, but pray that they will be blessed in many ways for helping me. — A senior citizen

A big mahalo to the anonymous person who found my wallet and took the time to deliver it to my doorstep. All my money and important cards were intact. It is so comforting to know that there are still really honest and good people in this world. You made my day! May your act of kindness be repaid to you someday. — Aloha, Ron from Manoa Valley

I want to give a big mahalo to the person who found my car key at Lagoon Four in Ko Olina on Nov. 9. It fell off my key chain apparently and they turned it in to the Aloha Team. Also big thanks to the team member riding his bike through the parking lot who noticed me searching my purse and around the car looking for the key. At worst, my car could have been driven away, or, at best, I would have had to get back to Mililani Mauka to retrieve my extra key. So thank you so much for going above and beyond. I really appreciate it. — A reader

I recently traveled to Oahu to visit my parents. On the way back to the airport I stopped to fuel the rental car and left my wallet on the roof. As I pulled onto Nimitz Highway, my wallet fell off. A few minutes later as I rode the shuttle to catch my plane back to Maui, I realized I did not have my wallet. I rushed back to Dollar car rentals, but my wallet was not to be found. All the people at Dollar were great in searching for my wallet. The sheriffs who were sent to investigate were very helpful. Then suddenly my sister called me and told me a gentleman had found my wallet and gave me his number. I called Wayne and he offered to drive the wallet to me. He would take no reward and so I am writing this letter as not only a “thank you,” but to say my faith in my fellow man was restored by Wayne’s act of honesty and helpfulness. — David Padgett, Kula

I believe in “what goes around comes around.” As grandparents we had a hectic schedule this past Saturday, watching our grandson play soccer and later in the evening watching our granddaughter at gymnastics. It was late so we decided to eat out at Big City Diner. Our waiter said that the people in the back paid for our dinner. She and her husband had three kids and yet picked up our dinner tab. I did not get a chance to thank them, as they left before I called for my bill. The waiter said that when I took my insulin shots, that reminded the woman of her parents, so based on that she bought us dinner. I hope she gets to read this. I want her to know that I will pay it forward. — Forever grateful, Mr. and Mrs. R. Kimura

Thank you to the very kind person who on Nov. 21 found my parking stub — probably on the ground next to my car where I unknowingly dropped it — on the second level of the parking garage of Waterfront Towers. It was easy to spot as I walked toward my car since you wedged it into the driver-side window. I didn’t even know I had lost it. You saved me a $33 lost-ticket fee and spared me the anger I would have felt at myself once I discovered I didn’t have it. I hope you have a happy holiday season. — R.M.

I would like to express my gratitude to the honest woman who found my cellphone in the ChefZone freezer jacket on Nov. 19 and to the female ChefZone employee who returned my cellphone to me. Wishing everyone Happy Thanksgiving! — Mahalo from a grateful shopper
