Police continued searching Thursday night for a 26-year-old man with a stoplight tattoo on his arm who allegedly fatally shot a 24-year-old man in an illegal game room in McCully a day earlier.
It was the second fatal game room shooting in two months.
Police said the two men were arguing when the suspect shot the victim multiple times Wednesday night, then fled the scene.
The suspect was described as being about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 190 pounds, with cornrows and the tattoo on his left arm, according to police dispatch reports shortly after the shooting. The suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
He was wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts, black basketball shoes and two fanny packs.
The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Honolulu police acting homicide Lt. Ryan Kaio said police received a report of possible gunshots on Poha Lane near South Beretania Street at about 9:05 p.m. Wednesday. Arriving officers were directed to an illegal game room on the second floor of a building.
Inside, officers found the victim.
An Emergency Medical Services report said the man had apparent gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen.
Police opened a second-degree murder investigation. Kaio said police were investigating the connection between the two men.
A person at the scene who knew both men said they were employees of the game room.
On Sept. 24 a 30-year-old man allegedly shot two people inside Cuties Cafe, an illegal game room that has since closed, on North King Street downtown. A 44-year-old woman died and a 25-year-old man was injured in the game room robbery.
Alabanza Tuimalealiifano was charged in connection with the shooting two days later.
