The Hawaii beach volleyball team defeated UCLA to win the 2016 Pacific Rim Beach Volleyball Championships at the Clarence T.C. Ching Courts on Saturday night.
The Rainbow Wahine almost swept the Bruins, winning seven of the eight paired matchups between the teams.
The Wahine were led by the winning combination of Mikayla Tucker and Morgan Martin, who swept UCLA’s Elise Zappia and Isabelle Carey 21-19, 21-17. The pair also went on to defeat New Zealand’s Julia Tilley and Alice Bain 21-16, 21-16 in the international pairings.
HPU men rout West Coast Baptist
The Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team (6-0) remained perfect after a 102-69 win over West Coast Baptist at the Cannon Activities Center on Saturday.
Five players scored in double figures for the Sharks, led by Jordan Martin’s 20 points and Chauncey Orr’s double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Daniel Foster led the Eagles (1-6) with a game-high 24 points.

The Seasiders (2-3) were led by Shad Watson’s team-high 13 points, while Kevin Grow paced the Knights (2-1) with 19 points and 13 rebounds, both game highs.
HPU women rally past Central Washington
The Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team overcame a 17-point halftime deficit to top host Central Washington 77-70 in Saturday’s Wildcat Thanksgiving Classic.
The Sharks (2-2) used a 16-0 run to erase the halftime deficit and added a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter to seal the win. HPU got a game-high 21 points from VeAnne Navarro, as well as 13 points and seven rebounds from Cece Pearl.
The Wildcats (4-4) were led by Jasmin Edwards’ team-high 20 points and six assists.
