The BYU-Hawaii men’s basketball team opened PacWest conference play with a 90-80 road win over Holy Names.
Tanner Nelson led the Seasiders (3-4, 1-0 PacWest) with a game-high 24 points. Denyhm Brooke added 22 points and seven rebounds, while Caeleb Roney scored a career-high 16 points with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Dante Robinson led the Hawks (1-8, 0-2) with a team-high 13 points and eight boards.
>> In the women’s game involving the same schools, Holy Names prevailed 58-49.
Jeana Magana led the Hawks (1-7, 1-1) with a game-high 14 points and added five rebounds.
Mata Tonga grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for the Seasiders (2-3, 0-1), while Safia Sheikh added 11 points and six rebounds.
Xterra run set for today
The ninth annual Xterra Trail Run World Championship will take place at Kualoa Ranch today, starting at 9 a.m.
Roughly 1,500 runners from around 20 countries and 40 states, of all ages and skill levels will compete.
Events include the half-marathon, 5K and 10K trail runs, an adventure walk and kids runs.
