Lanikai kids, ‘grannies’ team to fight Mylar trash


    Lily Pu shows off a pencil case made out of 62 Cheetos bags. The Lanikai Grannies have been trying to help Lanikai School’s zero-waste program by finding ways to deal with the Mylar packaging that comes with so many snack foods and juice pouches.

You would not believe the amount of Mylar kids throw away. At one little school, they calculated 80,000 pieces a year. And that’s a school that’s paying attention to the problem and trying to make changes. Read more
