A visitor from Japan has died after he was found unresponsive in waters off Waikiki.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Kiyokazu Kodama, 58, of Chiba-ken.
At about 3:15 p.m. Monday, Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a man who was found unresponsive and facedown in the ocean fronting the Sheraton Waikiki.
Lifeguards brought Kodama to shore and performed CPR. Police and EMS reported paramedics arrived and conducted advanced life support before transporting him in critical condition to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead Monday night.
Kapaa man ID’d as motorcycle crash victim
Kauai County officials Monday identified the motorcyclist who died in a crash as Kent Kaui, 63, of Kapaa.
On Friday afternoon Kaui was attempting to make a left turn onto Kuhio Highway from South Kalihiwai Road when he was struck by a northbound pickup truck. He died at the scene.
He was not wearing a helmet. The two occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.
This was Kauai’s eighth traffic fatality of the year.
Man’s bail set at $20,000 in Waianae theft
An Oahu man has been charged with vehicular theft and driving without a license in Waianae.
Peter L. Delacruz, 38, was charged Monday for the alleged crimes that took place Saturday night.
His bail was set by police at $20,000.
