President Barack Obama, while vacationing in Kailua, called President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday morning, despite Trump’s hours-earlier accusations of Obama throwing up “roadblocks” to a smooth transition of power.
The White House says it was a positive call focused on continuing a smooth and effective transition.
Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted that the transition was not going smoothly, and blamed Obama.
Obama spent the rest of the morning working out at a Marine Corps Base Hawaii gym and golfing at the Kapolei Golf Club with three Punahou School classmates.
The president and his family spent the afternoon touring Shangri La, the former Doris Duke mansion near Diamond Head, which houses a collection of Islamic art.
The Obama family and friends then dined at Japanese restaurant Nobu Honolulu.
