A high-surf advisory remains in effect until at least 6 p.m. today for the east shores of Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Maui and Hawaii island.
The National Weather Service said surf in the 5- to 8-foot range can be expected.
The agency urged beachgoers, swimmers and surfers to be aware of strong breaking waves and currents, and to listen to lifeguards.

Pools closed after rockslide
The Seven Sacred Pools, formally known as the Pools of Oheo, are closed until further notice because of a possible rockslide hazard.
The National Park Service said a rockslide happened at the pools at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, probably because heavy rainfall had saturated the soil.
One park visitor sustained minor injuries, officials said by email Friday.
To ensure visitor safety, Haleakala National Park closed the attraction and said it will remain closed until the area can be assessed for risk of further rockslides.
“With current historic rainfall, we want to emphasize that any cliffside area in the park could be dangerous,” said park Superintendent Natalie Gates in a statement. “Visitors should remain on designated trails at all times.”
