Two lawmakers will hold a town hall meeting in Lahaina on Jan. 16.
Sen. Rosalyn Baker and Rep. Angus McKelvey will answer questions from the public from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the West Maui Senior Center, 788 Pauoa St.
Baker (D, West Maui-South Maui) is chairwoman of the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection and Health Committee, and McKelvey (D, Lahaina-Kaanapali-Honokohau) is chairman of the House Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee.
“The meeting will give us an opportunity to update a variety of community issues such as the Maui Memorial transition, the small boat harbor and Lipoa Point,” Baker said.
“We will also address some of the legislative issues for the upcoming session such as housing,” McKelvey said.

Veteran officer promoted
Hawaii Police Department veteran Robert Wagner was promoted from captain to major, effective Jan. 1, and will be assigned to West Hawaii operations, the department announced.
Wagner, who joined the Hawaii Police Department in 1986, has held assignments in Hilo, Kau, Puna and Kona.
From 2006 to 2008, he was the lieutenant in charge of the Criminal Investigations Section in West Hawaii. His most recent position was captain of the Criminal Investigations Division in East Hawaii, overseeing the Criminal Investigations Section, the Vice Section and the Juvenile Aid Section.
In 2016, Hawaii County named him manager of the year.
