The Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team slipped one spot in the NABC Division II poll, coming in at 19th when the new poll was released Tuesday.
HPU (14-1, 6-1 PacWest) fell 80-70 to California Baptist last week — its first loss of the season. Cal Baptist (13-1, 5-1) rose to fifth in this week’s poll. Cal Baptist and HPU are the only two ranked teams from the PacWest Conference.
Goodwin guides Chaminade to victory
Rohndell Goodwin scored a game-high 23 points, leading Chaminade past Academy of Art 82-70 on Tuesday.
Austin Pope had 11 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for the Silverswords (10-6, 6-3 PacWest), who had 10 blocks in the win. Kiran Shastri added 17 points and eight rebounds for Chaminade.
Uchenna Okeneme led the Urban Knights (4-8, 3-3) with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Chaminade women fall to Academy of Art
The Chaminade women’s basketball team fell 71-58 to Academy of Art on Tuesday in San Francisco.
The Silverswords (1-12, 1-8 PacWest) were led by Courtney Kaupu’s 13 points, while Lilia Maio added 11. Rodericka Ware had 23 points, six rebounds and five assists to lead the Urban Knights (9-5, 5-1).
Maio’s 11 points gives her 1,127 in her career. She is now just 15 points away from surpassing Samantha Saito’s school record of 1,141.
