A 25-year-old man pleaded not guilty Thursday to hindering prosecution in the fatal Christmas night shooting at Ala Moana Center.
Lance Bermudez appeared at his arraignment before Circuit Court Judge Colette Garibaldi via closed-circuit video link from the Oahu Community Correctional Center after he was charged with first-degree hindering prosecution in connection with the shooting of 20-year-old Stevie Feliciano.
Bermudez’s attorney, Jason Burks, entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.
Burks requested a reduction in bail to $100,000 from $500,000, as Bermudez has no prior felony convictions. He noted the bail amount for a second man, William K.C. Kan, also charged with first-degree hindering prosecution in the case, was set at $25,000. Kan is free after he posted bail.
Garibaldi denied Burks’ request and confirmed Bermudez’s bail at $500,000. His trial is set for the week of March 13.
Police arrested Bermudez on Saturday morning in the Kipapa Gulch area. He and Kan allegedly threatened a witness to the shooting in the shopping center’s Ewa Wing parking structure.
Authorities said Feliciano and some friends got into an altercation with Dae Han Moon, 20, and his friends. After the altercation Moon allegedly struck Feliciano with a gun he had grabbed from his car and shot him in the back of the head.
Feliciano was on life support at Queen’s Medical Center and died Dec. 28.
Moon, indicted on second-degree murder and
firearm charges, turned
himself in five days after
the shooting.
