A 67-year-old woman who died after she was found floating lifeless in the water at Hanauma Bay has been identified as Christy H. Kang of Honolulu.
Police said Kang was found floating face down in the ocean about 2 p.m. Friday. Lifeguards pulled her from the water and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation to no avail.
Emergency Medical Services transported Kang to a hospital, where she died.
Police said there were no initial signs of foul play.
Motorcycle rider critical after accident
A 35-year-old man was taken in critical condition to a hospital early Friday after he was thrown from his motorcycle in Pearl City.
At about 1:20 a.m., police said, the man was traveling west on Kamehameha Highway just pass Kuala Street at a “high rate of speed.” He lost control of his motorcycle, then veered onto a grassy median and back onto the roadway when he was thrown from his motorcycle onto the road.
Police said he was wearing a helmet.
Excessive speed was a factor. It’s unknown whether alcohol was involved.
Police shut down the highway between Kuala and Waihona streets to investigate and reopened the roadway at about 4:20 a.m.
Injured hiker rescued from Koko Crater
Firefighters rescued a woman who was injured Friday evening while hiking the Koko Crater Trail.
The Fire Department responded at 6:16 p.m. to a report of an injured hiker, who was in stable condition. Four companies with 12 personnel were dispatched.
The woman was about 100 steps from the top of the trail.
Firefighters hiked the trail to the woman, then treated, stabilized and airlifted her to a waiting ambulance at Koko Head Park.
