Bringing local style to Waikiki, Barrio Vintage and Gillia Clothing have opened temporary pop-up stores at Royal Hawaiian Center.

Barrio Vintage, a Chinatown boutique, owned by Bradley Rhea and Jonathan Saupe, will feature some of its collection of vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories for women and men on Level 2, Building C (C-213). Open through Feb. 28.

Gillia, a Honolulu-based online women’s resort wear brand designed by Saori Santos, is featuring feminine beach lifestyle dresses and coverups, as well as pieces from its Gillia Swim vintage-inspired swimwear collection on Level 1, Building B (B-114). Open through March 31.

YEAR OF ROOSTER BRINGS NEW MAC LINEUP

In celebration of the lunar new year, MAC cosmetics has introduced a new collection, MAC Year of the Rooster, featuring a festive lineup of products online and in stores through Feb. 23.

The collection includes eyebrow pencils, lipsticks, blushes, an eyeliner and eye shadows in colors intended to invite good luck and good fortune. Prices range from $17 to $42.

JAPANESE NEW YEAR POSTCARDS ON DISPLAY

If you happen to be at Kahala Mall today or Monday, stop by the Macy’s end for a display of Nengajo, or new year postcards, presented by the Hawaii Association of Teachers of Japanese.

More than 120 Japanese-language students from Oahu’s public and private schools entered a contest calling for postcards that are culturally appropriate to celebrate the Year of Rooster. The contest provided students an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of new year practices in Japan.
