The No. 19 Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team overcame a slow start to defeat Notre Dame de Namur 69-50 on Monday in Belmont, Calif.
Elliott Defreitas recorded a team-high 15 points and six rebounds for the Sharks (17-1, 9-1 PacWest). Chauncey Orr added 11 points and six rebounds.
NDNU’s Michael Karimu finished with a game-high 17 points. The Argonauts drop to 3-12 overall and 1-8 in PacWest play.
HPU women’s hoops finish 4-0 on road
Gabriella Fotu posted 19 points to lead the Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team in a 91-45 rout of Notre Dame de Namur on Monday in Belmont, Calif.
Fotu led five Sharks in double-digit scoring, followed by Janessa Manzano’s 18 points and Danielle Iwami’s 16 points. HPU (11-3, 8-1 PacWest) shot 54.1 percent from the field and outrebounded the Argonauts 53-27.
Marissa Caballero scored a game-high 21 points for NDNU (8-8, 6-3 PacWest).
After finishing 4-0 on the mainland, the Sharks will travel to Hilo to face the Vulcans on Saturday at 1 p.m.
