Search ends for missing man on Maui
The Maui Fire Department concluded a three-day search Wednesday evening for a missing Utah man who was swept off the rocks by waves Monday in Kahakuloa.
The Fire Department and Coast Guard were unable to locate the man, who was swept off the rocks along with a Connecticut man while they were taking photos with two women, an MFD news release said. The other man was rescued.
The Fire Department did not identify the missing man. Fire Services Chief Edward Taomoto said police would do that pending notification of next of kin.
The Fire Department used a rescue boat, Air 1, and fire and Coast Guard crews searched the shoreline.
A Coast Guard cutter and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter assisted in the search in offshore waters.
