The Queen’s Medical Center on Monday is opening an acute-care unit at the Kuakini Health System, 347 N. Kuakini St.
The 40-bed unit on the seventh floor of the Hale Pulama Mau building will be operated by Queen’s physicians, nurses and staff.
Queen’s has been expanding in recent years on Oahu and the neighbor islands. In January 2014 it acquired North Hawaii Community Hospital on Hawaii island and purchased the defunct Hawaii Medical Center-West in 2012.
