‘Old sailor’ is determined to honor fallen veterans

    Retired Navy Rear Adm. Lloyd R. “Joe” Vasey held a group photo of the crew of the USS Gunnel. Vasey, who turns 100 on Tuesday, served on the submarine during World War II. He is hoping to get a Pacific War Memorial built at Pearl Harbor. He said he gets “very emotional” about the memorial because he’s doing it for “my old buddies.”
