Fresh off a 23-point performance in the state quarterfinals, Brilie Kovaloff exploded for a game-high 28 points to lead the top-seeded Mid-Pacific Owls past OIA champion Kalani 62-34 in a girls state Division II semifinal game at Kalani on Friday.
Kovaloff knocked down 10 of 16 shots from the field, and hit all seven of her free throws.
Defensively, the Owls stifled the Falcons, as no Kalani player reached double figures in scoring.
Mid-Pacific will face Kamehameha-Hawaii for the D-II title at 5 p.m. today at Blaisdell Arena.

Dominique Pacheco had 18 points, and Saydee Aganus added 10 points and nine rebounds as the Warriors knocked off the Saints to advance to the Division II championship.
The Warriors were able to slow down St. Francis’ Olivia Vaeatanitau, who was coming off a big 17-point, 18-rebound effort against Seabury Hall. Vaeatanitau managed just three points and five rebounds.
Mata Sagapolutele led the Saints with 10 points and nine rebounds.
