First Insurance Company of Hawaii said it donated $600,000 to more than 100 community nonprofit organizations and projects last year and its employees’ volunteer hours exceeded 2,000.
Among the organizations receiving financial donations were the University of Hawaii Foundation, the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, the Aloha United Way, the American Diabetes Association, The Salvation Army and Easter Seals Hawaii.
The First Community Action Team (known as First CAT) completed volunteer work for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii, the Institute for Human Services, HUGS, the Hawaiian Humane Society and Hawaii Meals on Wheels, among others.
During the past 10 years, First Insurance Company of Hawaii employees have volunteered during their lunch breaks to deliver approximately 800 meals per year, accounting for roughly 25 percent of Hawaii Meals on Wheels’ total volunteers.
