When timber-lined Ward Warehouse opened in the 1970s, it was slated to serve as a temporary structure that would be in place until, say, the early 1990s. The long-delayed demolition is now set for this summer.
Over the decades, the warehouse’s low-key atmosphere has been a big draw for many shoppers, who preferred it over the hustle-and-bustle of a big mall. “Marvel’s The Inhumans” to get warm aloha
Given the success of the Marvel Entertainment juggernaut, news of its latest venture bodes well for Hawaii. “Marvel’s The Inhumans” will begin filming in this state, with the first two episodes bound for IMAX theaters in late summer, and the weekly series premiering in the fall on ABC TV.
Production here should bring welcome work for local film professionals, as well as help market Hawaii within the industry as a promising place to do business. After all, CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” has been carrying that load going on seven years now.
For true Marvel fans, of course, it’ll be cool to see how The Inhumans come to life. Black Bolt, Medusa or Crystal, anyone?
