Thousands of teachers protest over education funding

    Hawaii teachers and supporters marched from the Neal Blaisdell Center to the state Capitol on Monday in support of the Hawaii State Teachers Association. HSTA members flooded the Capitol rotunda.

    HSTA President Corey Rosenlee spoke to the crowd of teachers and supporters at the state Capitol. Security estimated the crowd at 4,000, while the union estimated there were 6,000 in attendance.

    Hawaii teachers and supporters marched from the Neal Blaisdell Center to the state Capitol on Monday in support of the Hawaii State Teachers Association. This group headed toward the Capitol on Beretania Street.
