If you’ve ever thought about touring the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor — or want a reason to do it again — now would be a good time.
The Mighty Mo is undergoing a $3 million renovation, including repairing of some extensive corrosion. Most of the work will be done off hours, to allow the floating battleship museum to remain open to visitors and tours. That’s crucial, since the ship is owned and run by the nonprofit USS Missouri Memorial Association: it receives no government money, so entrance fees pay for nearly all preservation and operations. So, learn some World War II history — Japan’s formal surrender in 1945 was signed aboard the Missouri — while helping this historic museum stay afloat.
No surprise: Real estate agents do well here
Hawaii’s high home prices have propelled Honolulu to become the 2017 “Best Place To Be A Real-Estate Agent,” according to the personal finance website WalletHub. This city ranks first for annual median wage growth for real estate jobs and for its low unemployment rate. It’s also fourth for the profession’s annual median wage overall, and on the Housing-Market Health Index.
