The University of Hawaii women’s golf team finished in second place at the Battle at the Rock tournament in Riverside, Calif., at the Oak Quarry Golf Club. It is their highest finish of the season.
The Rainbow Wahine finished with a team total of 909, just six strokes behind Cal Poly, which topped the 15-team field.
Senior Izzy Leung was the top individual finisher for the ’Bows, with a three-round total of 8-over 225. Northern Arizona’s Sofia Anokhina led wire-to-wire, finishing with an even-par 72 to claim medalist honors at level-par 216.
Hawaii Pacific basketball slips in polls
The Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team fell to No. 8 and No. 9 in the NABC Division II and Division II Sports Information Directors Association polls on Monday.
The Sharks (23-2, 15-2 PacWest) were previously ranked third in the NABC poll and seventh in the D2SIDA polls before a 92-82 loss at Azusa Pacific on Feb. 6 that wasn’t included in last week’s polls.
HPU next hosts Point Loma on Thursday at Moanalua High School. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
HPU sweeps Western Oregon
After consecutive rainouts, the Hawaii Pacific softball team swept Western Oregon 10-6 and 8-6 in a doubleheader at Howard Okita Field. Senior third baseman Kayla Sanchez went 3-for-6 for the Sharks (2-2) with a triple and three runs scored.
