A 29-year-old convicted felon was arrested in connection with a theft Sunday after he was seen fleeing in a vehicle from an incident in Waikiki by a witness who called police and gave officers the license plate number, police said.
The felon fled after taking property from a 23-year-old man at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. Responding officers located the vehicle, and the victim and the witness identified the driver as the suspect, police said.
The victim also identified his property in the suspect’s vehicle.
Police arrested the suspect for investigation of second-degree theft and of being a felon in possession of ammunition.
Man dies after collapsing on flight to Hawaii
A 79-year-old man died early Saturday morning after collapsing on a flight to Honolulu, police said.
The victim became unconscious during the flight at about 2:15 a.m. and could not be revived, police said. Someone performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him.
Authorities pronounced the man dead after the flight landed in Honolulu.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances, and officers opened an unattended-death investigation. Police did not say what flight the man was on or where the flight originated.
Pair of robbers sought after Waianae crime
Police were looking for a man and a woman after a robbery Friday night in Waianae.
Police said the suspects, a 46-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, approached a 53-year-old man in his home and demanded property at about 8:30 p.m. The male suspect brandished a weapon in the incident, police said.
Both suspects fled after obtaining the victim’s property and were at large. Police opened a first-degree robbery investigation.
