1. Tiffany Lerman isn’t from Hawaii but she understands island style. The London-born designer’s Pattern by Tiffany Lerman pouches sport bold, beachy graphics of sand, surf and palm fronds emblazoned with phrases like “live love beach” and “My Beach Essentials.”
The bags measure roughly 7-1/2-by-10 inches, a perfect sleeve for an iPad mini or Kindle. The polyester bags hold my phone and keys in my large tote when I head to the beach.
My fave, which I use as a cosmetics bag, has a scene of turquoise water and the words “Salt Hair Don’t Care.” It reminds me to take a deep breath and enjoy living in paradise, even when I’m running late and brushing my hair in the car on the way to work.
Pick them up locally for $28 at Global Village, 539 Kailua Road, or see the whole collection at patternla.com.

2. You don’t have to be a wave rider to appreciate Twin Islands Surf’s homage to popular surf breaks on Oahu. Show your love for places like Kewalos, Sandys and Kaisers with these comfy, combed cotton/polyester-blend T-shirts printed in Hawaii with map coordinates for each break.
While Twin Islands is based in Kailua at 131 Hekili St., townies can find the shirts at its retail storefront at South Shore Market on Auahi Street in Kakaako. Call 744-6583 or visit tisurf.com.

3. Have your uncontrollable shrimp tempura roll cravings gone unsatisfied since the old Shirokiya closed? Fear not, my okazu-loving friends, Teruya’s Andagi has found a new home at 1104 Pensacola St., serving up the familiar classics.
I go for the shrimp tempura rolls ($2.50), made fresh with secret sauce, but stay for the other offerings, such as bentos ($6.95 to $7.50), donburi bowls ($7.25) and, of course, andagi ($1 per piece). Street parking is limited, but I’m willing to circle the block.
Teruya’s Andagi is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Call 389-1714.

4. I’m on a bit of a pineapple kick these days, and I’m not just talking about sweet Maui Gold fruit.
Pineapples are a traditional symbol of hospitality and friendship, and I’ve been picking them wherever I see them. Recent finds include ki-ele’s 5/8-inch Pinya I stud earrings, dipped in 14-karat gold and mounted on stainless-steel posts.
The pineapple pair — and the 1/4-inch Teeny Manini Pinya version without black details — are $38 at Nordstrom in Ala Moana Center, which sells other jewelry by ki-ele designer Marylea Conrad.

5. On a mission to see the Oscar-nominated “La La Land,” I found that Tuesdays are a great day to go to the movies. Join Consolidated Theatres’ Extras Rewards program at the box office to be eligible for $6 movies, or $10 for the Titan XC screens with reserved seats and power recliners.
Extras members also get $2 hot dogs and $2 popcorn at the Ward, Mililani, Pearlridge, Kapolei, Koko Marina and Ko‘olau theaters. (Kapolei’s ‘Olino multiplex offer seats at $10 to $12 on Wednesdays.)
Regal Cinemas also has Tuesday bargains, with $6 tickets at Pearl Highlands and Windward, and $6.19 at Dole Cannery Stadium 18.
