High-end designer store Herve Leger will close at the International Market Place as part of a restructuring of its bankrupt parent company, BCBG Max Azria Group.
The French fashion retailer that is known for its women’s bandage dresses is one of 118 BCBG and Herve Leger locations that are closing nationwide.
The parent company filed for bankruptcy protection March 1, as retailers nationwide struggle to hold onto their market share in the era of online shopping, according to Reuters.
BCBG Max Azria will remain open at the Waikiki shopping complex.
Shaka Tea to be sold in more Hawaii stores
Bella Hughes, co-founder of Shaka Tea, said Tuesday the brand of iced teas brewed from the Hawaii-grown mamaki plant will be available in more Hawaii stores after her company closed its first round of angel investment.
“We are in around 150 stores now and aim to be in 400 by end of the year,” Hughes said.
In mid-March, Shaka Tea will be sold at 7-Elevens statewide. The company, founded in April 2016, offers three different brands of the tea: Honokaa: Mango Hibiscus, Koloa: Guava Gingerblossom and Hilo: Pineapple Mint.
Shaka Tea is also carried at local chains including Times, Foodland, Food Pantry, Foodland Farms, Whalers General Store, Down to Earth, KTA, Island Naturals and Don Quijote.
Hughes said the funds that angel investors provided the company also will go to marketing, as well as research and development for the brand.
The investors include Grant Ferrier, co-founder and managing director of Nutrition Capital Network; Michael Hammer, managing director of Atomic Brand Lab and former senior director of strategic ventures at PepsiCo; and James S. Tonkin, president of Healthy Brand Builders.
The three investors also will join the Shaka Tea strategic operations team.
