The No. 23 BYU-Hawaii men’s golf team finished fourth Tuesday in the NDNU Argonaut Invitational at the Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore, Calif.
The Seasiders finished 22 over par with a team final round of 8-over 296. BYUH was 16 shots back of winner California Baptist.
Nicolas Herrera was the top overall performer for the Seasiders. Herrera shot a final round of 72 to finish in second place at 3 under for the tournament, four shot backs of Cal Baptist’s Trevor Lampson.
The Seasiders will play next at the CBU Men’s Invitational at Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona, Calif. The tournament begins March 20.
Dixie State sweeps Chaminade
The Chaminade softball team dropped both games in a doubleheader versus Dixie State on Tuesday at Central Oahu Regional Park, falling 7-0 and 8-0.
In the first game, the Silverswords (2-16, 0-8 PacWest) were shut down offensively by Trailblazers pitcher Brooklyn Beardshear, who tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts.
In the second game, Dixie State (22-5, 8-2) started quickly, plating five runs in the first inning, and never looked back in a win that was called after the fifth inning by mercy rule.
The two teams will play again today in a doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m. at CORP.
