Police are asking the public to help identify the driver of a white two-door sedan who allegedly intentionally hit a pedestrian, critically injuring him, Thursday in Chinatown.
Police said the driver is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder.
The driver and the pedestrian got into an argument in the intersection of South Kukui Street and Fort Street Mall when the driver intentionally struck the man after he continued walking, police said.
The driver is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a white T-shirt and blue surf shorts.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellphone.
Fugitive parolee turns himself in
A 39-year-old parolee who fled in a car before being arrested Thursday turned himself in Friday to sheriff’s deputies.
Bronson Gouveia had checked in with his parole officer just before 7 a.m. Thursday. The officer was about to have him arrested for violating parole when Gouveia fled onto Ala Moana Boulevard, where a car was waiting.
After his surrender at 12:30 p.m. Friday, the Department of Public Safety said, Gouveia was taken to Ha-lawa Correctional Facility.
Gouveia’s record includes first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery, as well as weapon and drug charges.
