Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Tuesday to mark the start of construction for Bank of Hawaii’s new Manoa branch at 2809 E. Manoa Road, former site of the Unocal 76 gas station.
The new branch, which replaces its former location inside the Manoa Marketplace, is scheduled to be completed in early October. The 3,500-square-foot branch will feature the bank’s Branch of Tomorrow design with an open-floor layout, enhanced ATM features, Wi-Fi and private meeting spaces for clients.
All seven employees will be transferred to the new location. Pearl City was the first branch to incorporate the new design, followed by Hawaii Kai, which celebrated its grand opening March 18. Bank of Hawaii’s main branch is under construction with plans to open in August.
Former Hawaii Prince Hotel gets makeover
The former Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club has completed a $55.4 million modernization. The property will be renamed the Prince Waikiki on Friday.
The change follows eight months of renovations, which included 563 rooms, new dining options, a technologically upgraded lobby, a new infinity pool and improved meeting space. The lobby also includes an 800-piece suspended copper artwork by local artist Kaili Chun which symbolizes a school of hinana, a local fish.
