Tyler van Stone struck out seven batters over seven innings, but the Hawaii Pacific baseball team fell to No. 9 Azusa Pacific 3-2 on Thursday at Azusa, Calif.
Michael Staudinger singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning for the Cougars (27-4, 14-3 PacWest).
Van Stone allowed seven hits and three walks. Tanner Tokunaga and Ryan Torres-Torioka each went 2-for-4 with a run for the Sharks (14-21, 4-19).
