We love when readers share their favorite finds, so when Aiea writer Lee Tonouchi, aka the “Pidgin Guerrilla,” sent us a burst of fun items to feature, we couldn’t resist putting together a special Pidgin English edition of “5 Things We Love.”

Here’s Tonouchi’s shortlist of newly discovered stuffs you gotta spahk, hea, wea, use or grine:

1. No mo’ room under your mattress? Howzabout go stash your extra cash in this Spam Secret Safe? Only bad thing is when you hungry for Spam musubi and you think you get one more can of Spam left. Whoopsee. In case you looking at da label and you wondering, it clearly states that da cash in da picture is not included. Thought you wuz going score, ah? 2. I took-a-notice that women can kinda carry planny stuff in their purses. And I seen how lotta women wish their “mini” umbrellas would fit bettah. This Japanese waterproof and UV-blocking umbrella offers one solution. Instead of big round knob at da bottom, it has one slimmer design. Da whole thing is flat as opposed to cylindrical and it’s no thicker than a women’s wallet. Comes in one rainbow assortment of colors. And even black too, if you like be boring. 3. Cinnamon mochi is for reals! I heard rumors of such one ting existing. And I managed for snag da last one at Brug. Da thing looks more like bread than mochi so I wuz doubting. I thought maybe dey just used some mochiko powder when dey made their bread and dey just calling ‘em mochi. But nope — inside get actual mochi. Da outside is one thin layer das kinda like chewy bread. It’s not super sweet or anything and da whole thing get one hint of cinnamon taste das not overpowering. It’s really quite awesome. One mochi for $1.95, two for $3.75 at Brug Bakery at Ala Moana Center, 945-2200, and Pearlridge Center, 487-2200.

4. I love it when creative people colab. And das da thinking behind Kealopiko’s three piko line of products where dey mind meld with oddah creative designers. Kealopiko collaborated with graphic designer Pualani Lincoln Maielua for make these very attractive and educational Kaleka Pi‘apa Hawai‘i or Hawaiian Alphabet Flashcards of plants and animals. Kinda pricey at $24, but you gotta think of each one as one little piece of art, brah. Kealopiko is located at South Shore Market, Ward Village, 593-8884.

5. I used to collect aloha shirts, but I nevah come across one that I really liked (and that I could afford) in one long time. Until I found this bad boy at Target. What might typically be called one Superman “aloha shirt” would just be one button-down Superman shirt with one super loud and ugly pattern. Not only is this one more understated reverse print, but da ting get one non-reverse print pocket for add some flair. And if das no nuff, da Superman art itself stay done by DC Comics legend Jim Lee! Da only ting is that it’s not one real aloha shirt cuz da ting stay made in China. But wotchoo expect for $24.99?
