Ten craft beers and food to match will be served at Brews by the Beach: Beers + Bites + Beats on Saturday at SWIM, at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa.
Beers will come from Maui Brewing, Ballast Point, Aloha Beer and Sierra Nevada; chef Sven Ullrich will prepare the pupu; the Piranha Brothers will perform.
The event runs 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $45 for kamaaina and military, $55 for others; available at the door. Parking is free. A portion of the proceeds will go to programs that help wounded veterans.

Everything is coming up chocolate at a fundraiser on Hawaii island
Need an excuse for a visit to the Big Island? How about chocolate — to eat and to study?
“Worth Its Weight in Gold: The History of Chocolate” is the theme of the sixth annual Big Island Chocolate Festival, April 28-29, based at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.
Events include a cacao plantation tour, college culinary competition and several seminars. The big event is the closing gala, 5 p.m. April 29, featuring tasting stations presented by local chefs, chocolatiers and confectioners.
Other activities: live chocolate sculpture, chocolate body painting, unlimited wine and beer, a silent auction and dancing.
Tickets are $79 presale, $100 at the door, to benefit a number of local charities. Room/ticket packages for two start at $375 at the Hapuna Prince.

Castle’s vegan series turns to food of Thailand
The Castle Wellness Center presents a demonstration of Thai dishes, 6 p.m. April 27, as part of its monthly “Global Cuisine … With a Vegan Touch” series.
Vegetable curry and other Thai-inspired dishes are on the menu.

Discover what Chinatown holds in a Slow Food Oahu walkabout
Slow Food Oahu hosts a tour of Chinatown to include markets, bakeries, noodle factories, specialty shops, temples and historic sites.
