A 21-year-old Marine, reported missing Friday, was found dead Tuesday on a Koolau mountain trail.
Honolulu Fire Department crews were asked to search Kaau Crater Trail, and a firefighter discovered the body of Tyler Wechsler just before noon, spokesman Capt. David Jenkins said.
Wechsler was last seen at 3 p.m. April 7 in Waikiki and was possibly emotionally distraught, a CrimeStoppers bulletin said.
The trail begins off Waiomao Road at the back of Palolo Valley.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office released no information Tuesday on Wechsler.
Suspect robs Makaha convenience store
Police are investigating a robbery early Monday in Makaha.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m. Monday, police said, a 27-year-old woman entered a convenience store, brandished a “dangerous instrument” and demanded money from employees. The suspect fled after they gave her an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police declined to disclose additional details of the robbery due to an ongoing investigation.
Man, 26, is arrested in assault on woman
Police arrested a 26-year-old man after he allegedly kicked a 23-year-old woman in Aiea.
At about 9:30 a.m. Monday, police said, the suspect and victim were arguing over custody of their 2-year-old daughter. The suspect then kicked the victim while she was holding their child in her arms.
Police arrested the man at his home on Aiea Heights Drive on suspicion of abuse in front of a minor who is less than 14 years old.
