The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday identified the motorcyclist who died after he crashed into another motorcyclist near Sandy Beach on Saturday as Donald Chung, 35, of Waianae. Police said Chung was town-bound on Kalanianaole Highway at about 10:30 a.m. when he struck another motorcyclist, who had slowed down ahead.
Chung and the operator and passenger of the other motorcycle were ejected from their motorcycles.
Chung was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he died. The operator and passenger of the other motorcycle were hospitalized in serious and stable condition, respectively.
It was the 13th traffic-related fatality on Oahu this year, compared with 12 at this time last year.
Man charged in death of woman in Waikiki
A 42-year-old man was charged Saturday with murder in connection with the death of a 29-year-old woman in a Waikiki hotel room.
Jeremy Henderson was charged Saturday afternoon with second-degree murder. His bail was set at $1 million.
Police said paramedics and police responded to a defibrillator call for an unconscious woman in a hotel room at about 4:17 a.m. Friday. The woman was pronounced dead at 5:03 a.m.
She has not been identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office, and her cause of death was pending.
Police said an investigation at the scene revealed the woman had sustained suspicious injuries. Officers arrested Henderson at 5:23 a.m. Friday at Hilton Waikiki Beach, 2500 Kuhio Ave.
Woman charged with assault of girl, age 11
A 32-year-old woman was charged Saturday with assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Maili. The woman was charged with second-degree assault, and her bail was set at $40,000.
Police said the woman assaulted the girl at about 6 p.m. April 15. She was arrested at about 6 p.m. Friday.
