Stanford Carr, president of Stanford Carr Development, LLC, was named Developer of the Year by the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit Smart Growth America.
Smart Growth America said it works to “create healthy communities with strong local businesses, schools and shops nearby, transportation options and jobs that pay well.”
Carr was nominated by the city’s Department of Planning and Permitting for his work on two affordable-housing projects in Kakaako: Halekauwila Place and Keauhou Place. Halekauwila Place is a recently completed 204-unit tower with studios and two- and three-bedroom units for people earning 60 percent of the area median income or less.
Keauhou Place is a 43-floor tower under construction on South Street between Pohukaina and Halekauwila streets. Of the 423 units, 88 are reserved for sale to families earning 140 percent of area median income.
Airline seeks Japanese and Korean speakers
Hawaiian Airlines is seeking candidates who speak Japanese or Korean for flight attendant positions as the airline continues to grow internationally with a focus on Asia.

Applications for language-qualified flight attendant positions are due June 5 to be considered for interviews in Honolulu (July 15-16), and June 26 to be considered for interviews in Los Angeles (Aug. 12-13). All positions are based in Honolulu.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii has announced the following new physicians and providers:
>> Dr. Megan Motosue has joined the allergy department at the Kaiser Permanente Honolulu Medical Office. Motosue finished her internal medicine residency at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, Calif., and her fellowship was at the allergy and immunology division at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
>> Dr. Janet Myers has joined the pulmonology department at the Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. Myers was formerly an active-duty Navy clinician, department head of pulmonary and critical care, as well as director of the Sleep Laboratory at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa.
