Punahou’s Claire Choi outlasted Maui’s Reese Guzman in a playoff to win the David S. Ishii Foundation/HHSAA Golf State Championships on Tuesday at Kaanapali Golf Course on Maui.
Choi, who started the round a shot back of the leaders in a tie for third with OIA champion Malia Nam, carded a 3-over-par 74 to tie Guzman, who shot a 75.
Choi and Guzman both finished at 150.
Choi, who won her first ILH title two weeks ago at Turtle Bay, parred the first playoff hole to take the crown.
She also helped Punahou overcome a 10-shot deficit to win the girls team title by one stroke over ‘Iolani, which led after the first round.
The Buffanblu finished at 479.
Punahou has won five straight girls golf state team titles and 10 of the past 11, with ‘Iolani winning the other one in 2012.
Punahou also has won six consecutive individual state titles, with Choi joining 2016 winner and Southern Cal freshman Allisen Corpuz, UCLA freshman Mariel Galdiano (2013-15) and current Northwestern senior Kacie Komoto (2012).
Maryknoll’s Allysha Mae Mateo made one birdie and 16 straight pars before a double bogey on 18 to finish with the best score of the day — a 1-over 72 — to place third at 152.
Nam fell to fourth place at 153 after shooting a 77.
