The No. 6 Hawaii Pacific women’s tennis team beat No. 23 Southeastern Oklahoma State 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Championships on Thursday in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The Sharks’ Nicole Hoynaski defeated Alexsandra Reljic 6-0, 6-0 and Lara Meccico beat Anna Buiukian 6-1, 6-3. The four other singles matches went unfinished.
HPU’s Meccico/Barbora Kijasova, Hoynaski/Oceane Adam and Leticia dos Santos/Bianca Schulhof won doubles matches.
The Sharks will face No. 3 Lynn (Fla.) in today’s semifinals.

The Seasiders’ Nannan Zhang beat Zuza Maciejewska 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 and Xin Wen defeated Dasha Salnikova 6-2, 6-1. BYUH lost the four other singles matches.
Zhang/Wen and Min Liu/Leah Heimuli won doubles matches.
UH’s Albert, HPU’s Otto make the grade
University of Hawaii tennis player Felix Albert was recognized as a 2017 NCAA Division I CoSIDA Men’s At-Large Academic All-District 8 selection on Thursday.
Felix, a junior from Karlstadt, Germany, maintains a 4.0 grade-point average while majoring in finance and international business.
On the court this season, he earned first-team All-Big West Conference recognition.

Otto, a senior from Brunsbuettel, Germany, has a 3.83 grade-point average as he works toward a master’s degree in secondary education.
He is ranked eighth by the ITA in D-II singles with a 16-2 record.
Rosenmeier, Cowell win two on beach
The University of Hawaii’s Brett Rosenmeier and Colton Cowell won both their matches on the opening day of the USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships on Thursday in Hermosa Beach, Calif.
They beat Davenport’s Nathan Vander Meer and Cincinnati’s Christian Logan Webber 18-21, 21-7, 15-11 and UC Irvine’s Grant Friedman and Scott Stadick 21-15, 21-15.
Rosenmeier and Cowell, both sophomores, play indoor volleyball for the Rainbow Warriors.
The duo will play today against Mount St. Joseph’s Alex Vohland and Brett Cooper in their final pool-play match, with the quarterfinal round to follow.
HPU’s Hoppie takes second PacWest honor
Hawaii Pacific first baseman Wyatt Hoppie was selected the PacWest Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Thursday.
Hoppie, a junior from Orange, Calif., won the honor for the second time this season.
He batted .462 (6-13) with a triple, a home run, seven RBIs and four runs scored as HPU ended its season with three victories over Hawaii Hilo.
Sharks win PacWest Hawaii Challenge
Hawaii Pacific won this season’s PacWest Hawaii Challenge title.
The Sharks accumulated 30 points, BYU-Hawaii had 28, Hawaii Hilo finished with 23 and Chaminade recorded 19.
HPU and BYUH claimed first-place points in five sports, with Hawaii Hilo getting two and Chaminade one.
