Hunt for Kalihi drive-by shooter continues
Police launched a manhunt Friday for the suspect in a drive-by shooting in Kalihi Valley.
Emergency Medical Services took a 31-year-old woman to a hospital after her ex-boyfriend allegedly shot her in the shoulder.
The shooting occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Friday. Lt. Thomas Smith of the Honolulu Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division said the woman was driving on Kalihi Street when her ex-boyfriend pulled up next to her in a brown Ford Explorer and shot her.
A bullet struck her left shoulder, and two or three bullets hit the driver-side door.
Smith said she drove off and flagged down a police officer who had responded to a separate incident.
Paramedics arrived and transported her in serious condition to a trauma hospital.
An all-points bulletin was issued for the suspect.
Smith said police spotted the Ford Explorer on Beretania Street downtown and arrested the driver, who was not the suspect, for an unrelated traffic offense. Smith said police recovered the Ford Explorer and the victim’s vehicle for evidence.
The suspect is described as in his mid-20s.
Lanakila 2-car crash hospitalizes 5
Emergency Medical Services transported five people to a trauma hospital after they were involved in a two-car collision in Kalihi.
The crash occurred at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of North School Street and Lanakila Avenue.
Police said a 2014 Kia Soul occupied by four people was traveling east on North School Street and was turning left into a driveway when a 2001 Dodge Durango traveling west ran into it.
The Kia rolled over upon impact. Police said paramedics transported all four occupants — two males and two females — to The Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition.
EMS also transported the male driver of the Dodge Durango, the only person in that car, to Queen’s in serious condition.
Police said alcohol was a possible factor for the Dodge driver.
