Chaminade basketball coach Eric Bovaird announced the additions of two Division I transfers to the Silverswords roster for next season.
Grant Dressler, a 6-foot-6 wing, played in 16 games and averaged 4.4 points at Sacramento State last season. Braden Koelliker, a 6-8 forward, played in all 36 games for Colorado State last season and averaged 4.2 points and 4.1 rebounds for the Rams. Koelliker’s father, Bruce, played at BYU-Hawaii in the late-1980s.
Both Dressler and Koelliker will have two years of eligibility at Chaminade.
Phaedo 3 breaks sailing record
The crew of Phaedo 3 sailed from California to Hawaii in 3 days, 16 hours, 52 minutes and 3 seconds to break the Transpacific World Speed Sailing record on Tuesday. Crew members on board included Lloyd Thornburg, Brian Thompson, Fletcher Kennedy, Justin Slattery, Pete Cumming, Henry Bomby and David Swete. The previous record was held by Lending Club 2 with a time of 3 days 18 hours and 9 seconds in July 2015.
