A blue-eyed cat in repose is the subject of Jui-Lien Sanderson’s “Afternoon Glow,” which took first place in the upcoming Association of Hawaii Artists’ 47th annual Aloha Show.

Second place was awarded to Barbara Sumida’s landscape, “Moli‘i Loko I‘a II,” and third place to Christina Uebelein’s “Machine Age.”

The Association of Hawaii Artists, established in 1926 as the Association of Honolulu Artists, is a collective of local artists dedicated to the support and promotion of the multimedia arts and a growing arts community. The Aloha Show, its largest exhibit, opens Tuesday at Honolulu Hale and runs through June 15.

The exhibit showcases 69 works created by 43 artists selected by this year’s juror — artist, teacher and author George Woollard.
