Monique Apuakehau, an Iowa Western Community College sophomore and Waiakea alum, finished second in the women’s pole vault at the NJCAA Track and Field Championships that concluded Saturday in Hutchinson, Kan.
Apuakehau cleared 11 feet, 5 3/4 inches. In the women’s discus, Sabrina Hollins, a Coffeyville Community College sophomore and Waipahu alum, finished fourth with a throw of 149-7. Iowa Western sophomore Patria Vaimaona, a Kailua alum, was seventh at 143-10.
Vaimaona was third in Thursday’s hammer throw (164-6) and 12th in Friday’s shot put (39-5 3/4). Hollins was 17th in the hammer throw (142-0).
Kemper, Meisenzahl will speak at QB Club
Ed Kemper, a road race driver, and Dan Meisenzahl, the spokesman for the University of Hawaii, will be the featured speakers at Monday’s weekly meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club at Maple Garden Restaurant.
The lunch starts at 11:30 a.m., and the program at noon. Lunch is $16 and the public is invited.
