A woman fell to her death from the 10th story of a building in Waikiki early Sunday, according to police.
Witnesses saw the woman fall from a balcony at about 3 a.m., according to a police report. The Honolulu Police Department referred the case to its homicide detail, which is standard procedure for unattended deaths.
The building, the Ambassador Hotel Waikiki, is on Kuhio Avenue and Namahana Street, Hawaii News Now reported. No further information was immediately available.
Diver found floating off Makapuu
A diver was found unresponsive off the Makapuu shoreline Sunday morning and taken in critical condition to an area hospital.
The man, in his 50s, was brought to shore by beachgoers at about 10:45 a.m. in the area known as Baby Makapuu, which is across from Sea Life Park and next to Makapuu Beach Park.
Shayne Enright, spokeswoman for Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, said lifeguards performed CPR on the diver until the Fire Department arrived. The patient was transferred to Emergency Medical Services and continued to receive lifesaving care en route to the hospital.
Man threatens neighbor with shovel
A 23-year-old man who wielded a shovel and threatened to shoot his neighbor in Pupukea was arrested Saturday on charges of first-degree terroristic threatening.
The suspect allegedly accosted his 60-year-old neighbor and a 52-year-old man who was doing yardwork for her, according to a police report. He fled but was apprehended shortly before noon.
He was being held Sunday pending investigation, Wahiawa police said.
Driver found with stolen motorcycle
A 27-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after an officer pulled him over for a traffic violation and discovered a stolen motorcycle in the bed of his vehicle.
The suspect, who was driving without a license, could face theft charges and was held pending investigation, according to a police report. The incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. in the Waianae area.
Man, woman swept away in high water
A man and woman were injured on Hawaii island Saturday afternoon when high water swept them over the Piihonua diversion dam and into waters below.
The two were swimming with another person near the plantation-era dam, just above Piihonua Bridge, at around 4:40 p.m. when they were swept away, the Hawaii County Fire Department said. Both sustained leg injuries.
A Fire Department helicopter crew airlifted the two injured people from the area. Both were then taken to Hilo Medical Center for evaluation.
