The University of Hawaii coed squad is in 12th place after the first day of the Laser Performance College Sailing Team Race National Championship on Saturday in Charleston, S.C.
UH posted a 4-9 record in Charleston Harbor, with wins over Oregon State, Northwestern, Texas A&M-Galveston and Wisconsin.

Fan-Lee tied for sixth at Four-Ball event
Pearl City’s Brittany Fan and partner Esther Lee of Los Alamitos, Calif., shot a 4-under-par 68 and are tied for sixth after Saturday’s first round of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Three teams lead with a 66 at Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
At the U.S. Men’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship in Village of Pinehurst, N.C., Mililani’s Spencer Dunaway and Peter Kuest of Fresno, Calif., shot an opening-round 3-under 68 and are five strokes off the lead.
The pair is playing Pinehurst Resort & Country Club Course No. 8.
Wailuku’s Justin Arcano and Justin Ngan shot a 4-over 74 at Pinehurst’s No. 2 Course.
In both events, the teams will play another round of stroke play today, with the top 32 advancing to match play.
