I am very dismayed to read that Mayor Kirk Caldwell would rather have the Department of Enterprise Services take over Thomas Square. I assume he wants to privatize everything under the sun. Why does the park need a concession stand? I guess the park will have more litter and trash to clean up.
I implore the City Council to block the mayor’s plan and keep Thomas Square the way it is.

Is there anyone who does not agree that President Donald Trump is in dire need of psychiatric help?
When so many top military men stand by him, it is time to question the sanity of the Pentagon as well.
The greatest threat to our future is currently everyone working in the White House and those appointed by Trump, especially Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt, and complacent congressmen.

Hawaii should join Paris accord, too
The bad news: President Donald Trump took the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord, which aims to reduce climate change by individual countries’ voluntary actions.
The good news: Three governors, 30 mayors, and many universities and businesses are formally committing to meet the energy standards the U.S. adopted in the Paris accord.
Gov. David Ige, Mayor Kirk Caldwell and University of Hawaii President David Lassner should join these leaders and position Hawaii in the brave forefront, not among the cautious laggards, on climate action.
Let’s commit to immediately and dramatically reduce carbon dioxide and methane emissions that accelerate climate change. It’s in our interest economically, morally and socially.
And let’s commit whatever resources it takes to ensuring climate justice: that low-income people will not pay a larger share of their incomes for energy than higher-income people will pay.

CNN fired Kathy Griffin. You posted online the incredibly dangerous and offensive photo that she made.
That makes all of you complicit in spreading that photo. Who gets fired for that? Nobody?
