The Locations Foundation hopes to top its clothing drive last year and generate 15,000 pounds of clothes, linens and toiletries from Monday to Friday to help needy families and children.
Last year, the foundation — the nonprofit arm of the Locations real estate company — opened up its annual drive to the public, which donated 10,000 pounds of clothing and other items.
This year, during the Locations Foundation’s seventh annual clothing drive, the organization hopes to raise even more. The foundation will then match each pound of donated items with $1, with the goal of collecting 15,000 pounds of donated items and $15,000.
The foundation is particularly seeking gently used clothes, shoes or slippers, linens, towels, toiletries and job-interview items for men and women.
The money and donations will then be divided among the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawaii, the Institute for Human Services and the Partners in Development Foundation’s Ka Pa‘alana Homeless Family Education Program.
“This year, we anticipate working with the community to collect 15,000 pounds of clothing, which we will match dollar-for-pound to support these deserving nonprofits who do so much to empower and improve the lives of families and children throughout the state,” Chad Takesue, president of the Locations Foundation, said in a statement. “Last year, we partnered with the community by making the clothing drive public for the first time. We look forward to working with Hawaii residents again this year to fulfill the Locations Foundation’s mission of supporting local keiki and families in need.”
