Likely needing a win to remain with the UFC, Waianae’s Russell Doane ended a four-fight losing streak with a first-round TKO of Kwan Ho Kwok in a 135-pound preliminary bout at UFC Fight Night: Singapore on Saturday.
Doane (15-7, 3-4 UFC) survived an early takedown and landed a straight right hand that crippled Kwok (9-2, 0-2) near the side of the cage. He quickly followed up with a series of strikes to earn the stoppage at 4 minutes, 9 seconds.
It was the first fight for Doane in eight months and the first win since he earned a split decision against Marcus Brimage in July 2014.
