TJ Kua and Todd Rego stopped Alex Chiarella and Alex Omer’s attempt to defend their Ka‘anapali Classic Pro-Pro Sunday, winning by one shot at Ka‘anapali Royal.
The Aloha Section PGA tournament had a $9,000 purse and 30 teams participated.
The two teams were tied for first going into the final round. Each had eight birdies Sunday, but a bogey at the 14th proved to be the difference.
Kua, from Aloha Golf Center, and Rego, from Pearl Country Club, shared $2,200. They shot 8-under-par 63 both days.
The 2016 champions were one shot back. The teams of Corey Kozuma and Ryan Nagata and Makena’s Eliot Gouveia and Eric Dugas shared third at 130.
Ka‘anapali has hosted the event 13 years.
