Haleigh Sudbeck, a freshman thrower for the University of Hawaii, finished eighth at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships on Friday in Sacramento, Calif.
Sudbeck posted a hammer throw of 161-04 (49.18 meters) on her final attempt to earn a place in the top eight of her first USATF event as a collegiate athlete.
Sudbeck was the first representative from UH at the USATF Junior Championships since 2012.
Chaminade men’s hoops adds two
Chaminade men’s basketball coach Eric Bovaird announced on Friday the signing of two additions for the 2017-18 season.
Nick Anderson, a transfer from Fullerton College, and Brett Reed from Cabrillo College, will both have two years of eligibility for the Silverswords.
Anderson, a 6-foot-1 guard from Anaheim, Calif., comes off second-team selection in the Orange Empire Conference after averaging 7.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists.
Reed, a 6-8 forward from Houston, was a two-time first-team selection in the California Community College Athletics Association and averaged 12.1 points and 10.9 rebounds in two seasons.
