The Transpacific Yacht Race, a 2,225-mile journey from Los Angeles to Honolulu, started Monday.
This year’s Transpac features 55 monohull and multihull entries from the United States, Japan, Australia, Norway, Italy, Canada, Peru, England and Russia. There are eight classes with yachts ranging from 33 to 100 feet.
Additional yachts will leave Point Fermin on Wednesday and Thursday. The finish line is off Diamond Head.
This is the 49th edition of the biennial race.
